The Most Beautiful Formula 1 Race Car Just Got Even Cooler

Let's get real here.  I love cars.  I love Formula 1.  There are many reasons why.  The rich history and pageantry of motorsport.  The speed.  The superhero men from the decades who have risked life and limb in the pursuit of immortality through victory.  The fact that you are actually watching the future of motor-driven vehicles be built and operate in front of your eyeballs (seriously, they don't even call the "engine" and "engine" because it is a hybrid of multiple engines put together.  It's a "power unit") where many inventions in your car today got their start I shit you not.

Most of all though, the cars are so fun to look at.  Beautiful even.  Take my favorite F1 racer of all time.  The car that has become an icon of the sport due to it's being driven by the man who many regard as the best racing driver ever: Ayrton Senna.  That's right, the 1991 McLaren Honda MP4/6.

Can you hear that?  It's the sound of every race fan's heart beating a little faster.

And now one man has decided to celebrate the beauty of this icon by perhaps making it even cooler.  Through art realizing the inevitable future of F1 as a real life F-Zero, and doing this through the lens of the MP4/6.  The results are in no other uncertain words, eye candy.

I really hope I live this long...

Some more in all their glory:

Nathan Dearsley, an artist who has worked on games like Crysis and Alien Isolation, is to thank for this space-age reimagining of Prost & Senna’s classic racer. My wallpaper needs have now been taken of, maybe forever.

You can see more of Nathan’s work at his personal site.

Thanks Nate.
