Pet Disappears For Four Years Returns Home Speaking Spanish

Did you guess the pet was a parrot?

A parrot with a "cultivated British accent" that went missing for four years returned home to California last week, apparently speaking Spanish and asking for a guy named Larry.  Naturally he had one hell of a trip.

Ay dios mio!

Disappearing without a trace from his SoCal home without a trace in 2010- the bird turned back up in the backyard of a dog groomer's home earlier this month.  A vet tried to track the bird using it's chip, a common practice with pet parrots, but of course found the bird of mystery to be unregistered.

Eventually though the bird's papers were tracked down, and the owners were found. The bird's sales papers revealed the identity of the owner, who happened to live nearby.

The parrot reportedly came back from it's sabbatical with a little bit of added attitude as well.  Refusing to speak English, and at one point literally biting the hand that fed it.

The vet told the Daily Breeze that's normal and the parrot will eventually start sucking up again in order to get food.

Still, nobody knows who Larry is, but odds are he is probably someone you'd want to hang out with.  Someone with some stories.
